To perform the MACHEREY-NAGEL 985023 NANOCOLOR COD 10000 Tube Test, follow these steps:
1. Put the sediment in the reaction cuvette into suspension by swirling.
2. Open the round cell and hold it slightly tilted.
3. Pipette 1 mL of the sample into the test tube.
4. Seal the test tube and shake it vigorously using a safety bottle (be cautious as the cuvette will become hot!).
5. Heat the test tube for 2 hours at 148°C.
6. Take the tube from the heating block.
7. Shake the tube again after 10 minutes while it is still warm.
8. Cool the tube to room temperature.
9. Clean the outside of the test tube.
10. Measure the absorbance using a MACHEREY-NAGEL photometer.
11. Dispose of the waste according to the information provided in the safety data sheet.
Note: It is recommended to test a sample of COD-free water to generate a blank value for the reagent. Additionally, when using a standard, ensure that the measured value remains constant for at least 30 minutes. Take necessary safety precautions as mentioned on the box label and in the safety data sheet.
