To measure the potassium concentration using the MACHEREY-NAGEL Visocolor Eco Potassium Test Kit, follow these steps:
1. Rinse the sample tube several times with the test sample and fill it up to the graduation mark.
2. Add 15 drops of K-1 reagent to the sample tube, close the tube, and mix the contents.
3. Add 1 level measuring spoon of K-2 reagent to the sample tube, close it again, and shake it evenly for about 30 seconds until the powdered reagent is completely dissolved. The test mixture will become more or less turbid.
4. Pour the liquid from the sample tube into the measuring tube until the black cross on the bottom of the measuring tube is no longer visible when observed directly from above.
5. The potassium concentration can be read directly from the graduation on the measuring tube, at the bottom of the meniscus.
6. Immediately after reading the test result, rinse both the sample and measuring tubes thoroughly with water. If necessary, you can also clean them with a brush.
Please note that if you are analyzing sea water, you need to dilute it (1+1) and filter it after adding the K-1 reagent. The reagents can also be used for photometric evaluation, but in that case, the sample volume should be 10 mL.
