To connect the IoT System WM-E1S Modem to your electricity meter, follow these steps:
1. Remove the meter terminal cover by unscrewing the screws.
2. Ensure that the modem is not under power supply and disconnect the AC connector from the meter.
3. Insert a replaceable and active SIM card into the SIM-holder, making sure the chip is facing down and the cut edge of the SIM is facing the modem. Push the SIM until it clicks into place. To remove the SIM card, press it again to eject it from the tray.
4. Install the modem enclosure and fasten it near the meter or mount it on a wall in a fixed position. You can insert the device into the internal mounting points of the meter under the terminal cover and attach it according to the meter's user guide. For outdoor installation, you can use a DIN rail adapter or fix/glue the DIN adapter on the modem casing back/bottom side and place it near the meter.
5. Mount an external LTE antenna to the antenna connector.
6. Connect the modem to your computer using the RS232 cable and an RS232-USB converter.
7. Connect the modem's AC power connector to the meter's power input or an external 230V power supply.
8. Configure the modem using the WM-E Term software via the RS232 port on your computer.
9. After completing the configuration, remove the RS232 cable from the USB adapter.
10. Disconnect the modem's AC power connector from the meter or power source.
11. Make a data connection between the modem and the meter using the desired interface (RS232 or RS485).
12. If the modem has 2 digital input wires, connect external devices to be monitored or for sabotage detection to the 2 digital input interface cables.
13. Reconnect the modem's AC power connector to the meter's power input. The modem will be powered by the meter and start its operation. Secure the meter terminal cover with the screws.
