- Close and lock all doors and move proximity keys away from the vehicle.
- Repeat the programming procedure two more times for successful programming.
3. Camera Operation:
- Make sure the camera is fully powered and connected before testing its functionality.
- If the camera functionality is tested without the camera fully powered and connected, the system may display a "Camera not Available" message and temporarily disable the camera input.
- The display may stay in reverse camera mode until the vehicle is driven to 7MPH, which is a factory function and cannot be changed.
- The module must remain installed for proper operation.
4. Installing the Rear Camera:
- Follow the specific instructions for your camera model (8837, 8847, or 8857) to connect the power and ground wires.
- Test the camera by connecting it to the aftermarket radio and placing the vehicle in reverse to verify a good image.
- If installing the camera on the tire carrier, remove the spare tire and secure the camera bracket using push nuts.
- Adjust the camera placement to see through the wheel spokes and tighten the adjustment screws on the bracket.
- Reinstall the spare tire on the carrier.
5. Install Rear View Camera Chassis Harness:
- Remove interior panels on the inside of the rear gate using a plastic trim removal tool.
- Insert the camera connector through the rear relief/vent flap behind the spare tire mount.
- Gently pull the harness through the relief door and connect it to the chassis harness.
- Secure the chassis harness using the supplied wire ties.
- Remove the rear access panel and interior rear quarter panel.
- Ground the black wire (for 8848 model) at a good chassis ground and isolate the red wire with electrical tape.
- Run the chassis harness forward under sill plates and B-pillar cover to the passenger kick panel.
- Remove the passenger sill plate/kick panel using a plastic trim removal tool.
- Route the chassis harness behind the glove box and into the radio cavity.
6. Connecting to Power:
- Follow the instructions based on your camera model (8837, 8847, or 8857) to connect the power wires to the aftermarket radio's power output.
- Connect the black wire to a chassis ground point.
7. Install Forward Facing Camera:
- Power the camera harness with 12V and connect the camera to the harness.
- Route the harness away from any moving parts and secure it along the driver's side fender with zip ties.
- Route the camera harness into the vehicle's interior through the factory grommet in the firewall on the driver's side.
- Route the harness to the back of the radio where the display interface will be.
- Connect the harness to a 12V+ ignition source and ground it to a chassis ground point.
