To clean the Breville BES876 coffee machine, follow these steps:
1. Cleaning Cycle: The machine has a built-in cleaning cycle that should be performed regularly. Insert the 1 CUP filter basket into the portafilter, followed by the supplied cleaning disc, and one cleaning tablet. Lock the portafilter into the group head and place a large container beneath the portafilter spouts. Press the POWER button to switch the machine off, then press and hold the 1 CUP, 2 CUP, and POWER buttons for 3 seconds. The cleaning cycle will commence and last for approximately 5 minutes.
2. Descaling: Descaling is a separate process from cleaning and should be done periodically to remove mineral build-up. Dissolve one sachet of Breville descaling powder into 4 cups (34fl.oz | 1L) of water and fill the water tank. Ensure the machine is off, then press and hold the 2 CUP and POWER buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds to enter the descale mode. Press the 2 CUP button to start the descaling for the coffee component of the machine. Descaling the steam and hot water components is also necessary. Follow the instructions in the manual for descaling these parts.
3. Cleaning the Conical Burrs: The conical burrs should be cleaned regularly to maintain consistent grinding results. Remove the hopper, unlock the top burr, and clean the burrs with a brush. For advanced cleaning, refer to the manual for instructions on disassembling and cleaning the burrs.
4. Cleaning the Tamp System: Remove the tamp cover and brush clean the tamp face and cradle. Push down and hold the lever to clean the tamp system, then release the lever and replace the tamp cover.
5. Cleaning the Steam Wand: Wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth after texturing milk. Use the pin on the end of the provided cleaning tool to unblock any blocked holes in the steam wand tip. Soak the tip in hot water if necessary.
