To calibrate the Apera GroStar GS1 Premium pH Pen Tester, follow these steps:
1. Power on the pen and remove the probe cap. Always calibrate at pH 7.00 first.
2. Rinse the probe with clean water and shake off excess water. Submerge the probe in the 7.00 pH standard buffer and shake it up and down for a few seconds. Let it stand.
3. Hold until the screen turns green. The pen will start automatic calibration. Wait for "Good" to show up (in 10-15 seconds), indicating the calibration is completed. The pen will then return to measurement mode.
4. Short press any key while calibrating (in green screen) to cancel calibration and return to measurement.
5. The icon "M" will show up on the lower left corner of the screen, indicating that the pen is successfully calibrated at pH 7.00.
6. Repeat steps 2-4 to calibrate pH 4.00 using the 4.00 pH buffer. The icon "L" will show up next to "M" to indicate the pH 4.00 calibration.
7. If needed, you can also calibrate pH 10.01 by repeating steps 2-4 using the 10.01 pH buffer (sold separately). The icon "H" will show up to the right of "M" and "L".
8. The icon "M", "L", or "H" will disappear after 30 days, reminding you to recalibrate the tester. It is recommended to calibrate pH at least once a month to ensure accuracy.
Always perform at least a 2-point pH calibration to ensure accuracy. Start with pH 7.00, followed by pH 4.00 immediately. If you turn off the pen before calibrating pH 4.00, you will need to start with pH 7.00 again after rebooting the pen, and then calibrate pH 4.00.
