To properly install the Barmesa Pumps 3BSE-SS Series Submersible Solids Handling Pump, follow these steps:
1. Before installation, ensure that you have read and understood all the instructions in the instruction manual.
2. Make sure that the pump is inspected for any damage or shortages upon receiving it. If any damage is found, file a claim immediately with the delivery company.
3. Store the pump properly if it will be stored for more than six months from the date of purchase. Before installation, bench test the pump to check the impeller and motor operation.
4. The pump should always be operated in a submerged condition. The minimum sump liquid level should never be less than above the pump's volute.
5. Install the pump in a sump, basin, or lift station that is sealed and vented according to local plumbing codes. Ensure that the location is not classified as hazardous according to the National Electrical Code.
6. The discharge piping should be as short as possible and sized no smaller than the pump discharge. Install a check valve and a shut-off valve for each pump to prevent backflow and allow manual system shutdown during pump servicing.
7. Mount the level control(s) on the discharge piping, cable rack, or float pole. Adjust the cord tether to change the control level. The level control float should be set to ensure that the liquid in the sump never drops below the top of the motor housing or a minimum level of 10 inches above the basin floor.
8. Ensure that the pump is properly grounded before connecting it to power. Follow the wiring instructions in accordance with the National Electric Code and all applicable state and local codes.
9. Perform a pump-down test after installation to check the system's operation. Record the time needed to empty the system and the volume of water.
10. Regularly inspect and maintain the by checking the motor chamber for oil level and contamination, inspecting the impeller and body for build-up or clogging, and checking the motor, bearings, and shaft seal for wear or leakage.
