The installation instructions for the Nortek Coils Uncased Indoor Split System are provided in the manual. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to install the system:
1. Before starting the installation, read the installation instructions supplied with the furnace/air handler and follow all safety requirements outlined in the instructions and/or furnace/air handler markings.
2. Ensure that the air delivery of the furnace/air handler is adequate to handle the static pressure drop of the coil, filter, and ductwork.
3. Check the coil's orifice size and confirm that it is suitable for application with the intended outdoor unit.
4. If precise forming of the refrigerant lines is required, use a copper tubing bender designed for the size lines used. Avoid sharp bends and contact of the refrigerant lines with metal surfaces.
5. Wrap the refrigerant lines with pressure-sensitive neoprene or other suitable material where they pass through the raw edges of holes.
6. Insulate the coil enclosure and the suction line.
7. Ensure that the coil is level for proper condensate drainage.
8. For upflow furnace installation:
a. Disconnect all electrical power to the furnace.
b. If needed, make a plate to adapt the coil to the furnace/air handler air discharge opening.
c. Install the coil and level it as needed for proper condensate drainage.
d. Make a plenum to enclose the coil or drop the duct directly over it. Insulate as required.
e. Seal the enclosure to minimize air leakage.
f. Connect the refrigerant lines as outlined in the Refrigerant Lines section.
9. For downflow/horizontal installation:
a. Securely mount the coil.
b. Add the proper horizontal drain kit. Refer to the Specifications section for the proper kit numbers.
10. Verify pressurization of the coil by depressing the Schrader valve and listening for escaping gas. If no pressure is found, test the coil for leaks. If a leak is found, mark the leak location and return the coil to your distributor for processing.
11. Connect the refrigerant line connections as described in the Line Connections section. Ensure proper brazing and check for leaks.
12. Check the level installation of the indoor coil to ensure proper condensate disposal.
13. Connect the condensate drain line, ensuring proper installation and avoiding sharp bends and pinching of the line. Install a condensate trap and prime with water.
14. Install an air filter upstream of the coil and inspect it frequently. Replace or clean the filter as needed.
15. Install close-off plates and panels around the refrigerant lines and drain line where required.
16. The indoor coil is not factory charged with refrigerant. Evacuate the indoor coil and line set prior to charging. Refer to the outdoor unit installation manual for detailed charging instructions.
17. Perform periodic maintenance on the coil, including checking and cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting the coil, drain pan, and condensate drain line for cleanliness, and ensuring proper condensate disposal.
Please refer to the manual for more detailed instructions and illustrations specific to your model.
