To install the GE Appliances PGB935 Smart 30 Inch Freestanding Self Clean Gas Range, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the installation is performed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter.
2. Use T-handle type ball type gas shut-off valves.
3. Use a flexible gas connector that does not exceed 5 feet in length.
4. Use a new flexible connector to prevent gas leaks and personal injury.
5. Conduct leak testing of the appliance according to the manufacturer's instructions.
6. Ground the range in accordance with local codes or the National Electrical Code.
7. Do not install the range with an air curtain hood or other range hood that blows air down on the cooktop, as it may interfere with burner operation and pose a fire or explosion hazard.
8. Install the anti-tip bracket to the wall or floor to prevent tipping of the range, which can result in serious injury or death.
9. Switch off the power at the service panel and lock the service disconnecting means before beginning the installation.
10. Use the necessary tools and materials, such as a gas line shut-off valve, pipe joint sealant or UL-approved pipe thread tape, flexible metal appliance connector, flare union adapters, liquid leak detector or soapy water.
11. Follow the dimensions and clearances specified in the manual to ensure safe use of the range.
12. Install a listed microwave oven or cooking appliance over the cooktop according to the installation instructions provided with that appliance.
13. If converting to propane gas or back to natural gas from propane, the conversion must be performed by a qualified propane gas installer. Follow the instructions and use the conversion orifices provided with the range.
14. For installation at high altitude (over 6000ft), use the appropriate installation kit and follow the included instructions.
15. Use the gas pressure regulator supplied with the range and ensure the inlet pressure is within the specified range for natural gas or propane gas.
16. Connect the range to the gas supply using a CSA International-certified flexible metal appliance connector or hard piping method, ensuring proper alignment and using pipe joint compound or pipe thread tape with Teflon on all male pipe threads.
17. Install a manual shut-off valve in an easily accessed location outside of the range and ensure everyone operating the range knows how to shut off the gas supply.
18. Make the electrical connections according to the electrical requirements specified in the manual, ensuring proper grounding and the use of a properly grounded three-prong wall receptacle.
19. Check the surface burners, bake burner, and broil burner for proper operation.
20. Install and check the anti-tip device according to the instructions provided with the device.
21. Level the range using the leveling legs and ensure the rear leg is properly engaged with the anti-tip device.
22. Once all hookups are completed, ensure all controls are in the off position, remove any packing materials and tape, and ensure the flow of combustion and ventilation air to the range is unobstructed.
