To install the ELECTRALITE GU10 Adjustable Fire Rated Downlight, please follow the steps below:
1. Before you begin, make sure to unpack all components onto a flat surface and check that all components are correct and present.
2. Familiarize yourself with the product, its component parts, and how it is assembled. Keep all packaging until after a successful installation and retain the instructions for future reference.
3. Important: This downlight is not suitable for mounting on normally flammable surfaces such as polystyrene tiles and wood-based materials.
4. Before proceeding with the installation, ensure that the ceiling light is switched OFF and the electricity is switched OFF at the mains supply board.
5. The suggested tools required for the installation process are a screwdriver with an insulated handle, pliers for twisting wire and cutting cable, and a drill with appropriate drill bits for your chosen location and mounting surface.
6. The downlight is suitable for 30 & 60 minutes fire-resistant standard ceiling constructions and provides protection against electric shock (Class I - Earthed).
7. The material of the downlight is die-cast steel, and it uses a PTFE cable.
8. The lamp type for this downlight is GU10 220-240V 50Hz 50W MAX.
9. The dimensions of the downlight are as follows: Overall - 108mm, Diameter - 93mm, Cut Out - 85mm.
10. The minimum distance from the illuminated object should be 0.5m.
11. The downlight complies with BS EN60598, 8S5250, BS476 Parts 20, 21 & 23.
Installation Instructions:
1. Ensure the mains supply is switched off. Choose a location for your new fitting, ensuring a minimum of 105mm is available. Also, make sure there is at least 100mm of free space around and 50mm above the luminaire. Do not cover the luminaire with thermal insulation.
2. Make an 85mm round fixing hole. We recommend using a circular hole cutter and taking great care not to damage the decorative finish.
3. Make the electrical connections to the terminal block.
4. Remove the bulb retaining clip built into the cover to access the lampholder. Fit the bulb and replace the bulb retaining clip/cover.
5. Lift both spring clips upwards and insert them into the 85mm ceiling hole. Allow the long ends of the spring clips to pass through the hole and the short ends to engage with the ceiling.
6. Press the fitting firmly into place until it is retained by the spring clips.
7. Restore the power supply and switch on.
If you have any doubts about fitting this product, it is recommended to consult a qualified electrician.
