To install the PROSELECT PSW12414 / PSW12415 Water Heater Controls, follow these steps:
1. Plan the installation: Review the installation guide and ensure you have the necessary tools and materials. Consider factors such as frequent cycling, water or steam cleaning, high humidity or dripping water, corrosive chemicals, and dust or grease accumulation.
2. Location: These controls are mounted on the outside of the water heater tank. Refer to the provided diagram (Fig. 2) for the correct placement.
3. Install Control to Water Tank: xxxx the control assembly into the spud until the bracket is square. Use a maximum torque of 31 ft-lbs plus one turn.
4. Connect Gas Supply: Ensure the gas supply is turned off. Run the gas pipe or tubing to the water heater control. Install a sediment trap in the supply line. Apply a moderate amount of pipe compound to the pipe connections, leaving two end threads bare. Connect the pipe to the control inlet and outlet using a wrench. Do not overtighten.
5. Wiring: Follow the wiring instructions provided by the appliance manufacturer or use the general instructions in the manual. Ensure all wiring complies with applicable electrical codes and ordinances. Connect the control circuit to the water heater control using the provided connections.
6. Fill Tank: Refer to the appliance manufacturer's instructions to fill the tank with water.
