To install the GRKVW02 Volkswagen installation kit, please follow the steps outlined in the provided installation guide. Here is a summary of the installation process:
1. Stereo Removal:
- Use a panel removal tool to release the air cone unit and remove screws (only for Volkswagen Golf vehicles).
- Use a panel removal tool to remove the trim surrounding the main radio and remove the screws.
- Pull the head unit out of the dashboard and disconnect all wiring.
2. Fascia Plate Set-Up:
- Attach the brackets to the new stereo using the screws provided.
- Line up the spacers on the inside of the plates and attach them to the stereo.
- Test the set-up outside of the dashboard by sliding it into the radio cage.
- Adjust the depth/alignment of the stereo using the radio removal keys if necessary.
- Install the fascia into the dashboard using the pre-existing screws.
3. Stereo Installation:
- Attach the 14-way steering wheel harness connector to the relevant side of the steering wheel control interface.
- Attach 'Key 1', 'Key 2', and 'Ground' wires from the patch lead to the corresponding wires on the stereo.
- Connect the 12-way connector to the steering wheel control interface.
- Attach the antenna adapter to the vehicle's pre-existing connection and the back of the new stereo.
- Connect the additional wiring on the harness to the back of the stereo.
- Make the power connections between the stereo and the vehicle's pre-existing connector.
4. Steering Wheel Control Functionality:
- The configuration layout of the steering wheel controls may differ depending on the vehicle model.
- Refer to the provided wiring diagram to understand the original button functions and the new functions after installation.
