To install the ZEBRONICS ZEB-U1200 UPS, please follow these steps:
1. Recharge the battery: It is recommended to recharge the battery for at least 8 hours (no load) to ensure maximum charge capacity. Simply leave the unit plugged into an AC outlet. The unit will charge in both the on and off position.
2. Connect devices: With the UPS unit off and unplugged, connect your computer, monitor, and any externally powered data storage devices (e.g., Zip drive, Jazz drive, Tape drive) into the battery power supplied outlets. Do not plug in laser printers, copiers, space heaters, vacuums, paper shredders, or other large electrical devices as they may overload and damage the unit.
3. Plug into a grounded socket: Plug the UPS into a 2 pole, 3 wire grounded socket (wall outlet). Ensure that the wall outlet is protected by a fuse or circuit breaker and does not service equipment with large electrical demands (e.g., air conditioner, refrigerator, copier). Avoid using extension cords.
4. Turn on the UPS: Press the power switch to turn the unit ON. The power on indicator light will illuminate, and the unit will emit a "beep" sound.
5. Handling overload: If an overload is detected, an audible alarm will sound, and the unit will emit a beep once every 0.5 seconds. To correct this, turn the UPS off and unplug at least one piece of equipment from the battery power supplied outlets. Wait for 10 seconds and then turn the UPS on again.
6. Battery maintenance: To maintain optimal battery charge, leave the UPS plugged into an AC outlet at all times. If you need to store the UPS for an extended period, cover it and store it with the battery fully charged. Recharge the battery every three months to ensure battery life.
