To properly install the GE current Tetra GEBIH Series EdgeStrip HO LED Lighting System, follow these steps:
1. Before you begin, make sure to read the installation instructions completely and carefully.
2. Turn off the power before starting the installation and ensure proper grounding of the power supply enclosure.
3. Use only UL approved wire for input/output connections, with a minimum size of 18 AWG (0.82mm2). Follow all NEC and local codes. Do not use the lighting system in a marine environment or submerge it.
4. If you are not qualified, do not attempt the installation. Contact a qualified electrician for assistance.
5. Install the LED retrofit kit only in host signs that have been identified in the installation instructions and where the input rating of the retrofit kit does not exceed the input rating of the sign.
6. Be cautious of enclosed wiring and components when drilling or punching holes into the structure of the sign. Avoid damaging the wiring and electrical parts.
7. Do not make or alter any open holes in an enclosure of wiring or electrical components during kit installation.
8. Prepare the electrical wiring according to the electrical requirements mentioned in the installation guide. Ensure proper grounding and bonding of the LED Driver in accordance with National Electric Code (NEC) Article 600. Follow all NEC and local codes.
9. Save the instructions for future reference and use the product only as intended by the manufacturer.
10. Make sure you have all the required components and tools listed in the installation guide, including UL approved supply wire, wire connectors, screws or rivets, end caps, Tetra® 24 Volt Power Supply, Tetra® EdgeStrip HO LED modules, and electrical grade RTV silicone.
11. Follow the layout guidelines provided in the installation guide to determine the location and number of LED modules required for your sign. Cut the modules where necessary and peel off the backing to expose the adhesive tape. Stick the LED modules into place and secure them with rivets, screws, or silicone.
12. Connect the LED modules using twist-on wire connectors or in-line (IDC) connectors. Join the white wires together and the red striped wires together. Cap all exposed wires with appropriate end caps or apply electric grade (non-conductive) silicone for additional weather protection.
13. Run a wire from the Power Supply and connect it to the first LED module on the strip. Make sure to use Tetra® 24 Volt Power Supplies.
14. Connect the red stripe wire (+) of the LED system to the red wire (+) of the power supply, and connect the white wire (-) of the LED system to the black or blue wire (-) of the power supply. All electrical connections should be made within the box sign and suitably protected from mechanical damage and the environment. Seal all connections in locations that may be exposed to water with electrical grade RTV silicone.
15. Follow the retrofit instructions if you are replacing existing lighting equipment. This includes surveying the site, removing the existing equipment, installing a new disconnect switch if necessary, repairing and sealing any unused openings, determining the number of LED modules required, and connecting the power supply.
16. If you encounter any issues or troubleshooting needs, refer to the troubleshooting section in the installation guide. It provides solutions for common problems such as modules not lighting up, sign not lighting up, individual modules not lighting, and dim modules.
Please note that this is a general overview of the installation process. For detailed instructions and specific guidelines, refer to the GE current Tetra GEBIH Series EdgeStrip HO LED Lighting System Installation Guide provided with the product.
