To install the POWER PUX Power Supplied Trolling Motor Quick Release Bracket, follow these steps:
1. Gather the necessary materials, including 8 gauge insulated wire, stainless hardware for mounting the puck to the deck, BoatLife LifeSeal caulking, acetone, clean rags, lead pencil, wire cutters, wire crimping tool, heat gun or small butane torch, 13/64" drill bit, and 3/4" hole saw or spade bit.
2. Remove the side panels of your trolling motor base.
3. Align the Power PUX bracket with the pre-drilled holes in the trolling motor base, ensuring that the puck wires are exiting down and the wire exit hole in the bracket is facing the rear of the trolling motor base.
4. Insert the six flat head screws into the countersunk holes in the bottom of the bracket and secure them firmly to the trolling motor base using the six Nylock nuts.
5. Use firm pressure to remove the stainless Power PUX locking pin, and then slide the puck backwards to remove it from the bracket.
6. Place the entire trolling motor assembly on the deck in your desired location, making sure the shaft clears the rub rail according to the trolling motor manufacturer's specifications. Mark the location of the Power PUX Quick Release Bracket on your deck.
7. Place the provided template within the pencil lines on your deck and mark the four mounting holes and the 3/4" wire hole with a lead pencil.
8. Drill the four 1/4" mounting holes and the 3/4" wire hole using a hole saw or spade bit.
9. Determine the best wire chase option from your batteries and run your 8 gauge wires through the wire hole in your deck.
10. Cut the exposed wires from the batteries to the desired length and strip the wire insulation on the ends to expose 3/8" of bare wire.
11. Slide one red and one black heat shrink tubing over the wires and insert and crimp the wires (red to red and black to black) together inside the wire connectors already attached to the deck puck plug wires. Heat the heat shrink tubing until visibly waterproof around the wires and connectors using a heat gun or small butane torch.
12. Apply BoatLife LifeSeal caulking around the wire hole, all four xxxx holes, and inside the entire perimeter of the puck to eliminate water intrusion.
13. Secure the puck to the deck using your chosen hardware and attachment method, ensuring that the power plug is facing aft.
14. Clean all excess sealant from around the perimeter of the puck using acetone or a similar cleaning solvent.
15. Slide your trolling motor onto the puck in a forward motion and insert the locking pin.
16. Connect the trolling motor to the power plug by lifting up the trolling motor housing, removing the black plastic wire retainer, measuring and cutting the trolling motor wires outside of the housing, sliding the provided red and black heat shrink tubing over the wires, and inserting and crimping the wires together inside the wire connectors already attached to the plug wires. Heat the heat shrink jackets until visibly waterproof around the wires and connectors.
17. Pull all the excess wire slack back into the trolling motor base and flip the black plastic wire retainer upside-down before reinstalling it using the longer 1" 1/4-20 xxxx supplied in the hardware package.
18. Reconnect your batteries and power up your trolling motor.
19. Use a padlock when your vessel is unattended, and make sure the locking pin is well secured when the vessel is in use.
