To clean and sanitize your knives using the SHARPER IMAGE 208001 UV Knife Sanitizer, please follow these steps:
1. Hand-wash your utensils: Before placing your knives into the sanitizer, make sure they are properly hand-washed to remove any food residue or debris.
2. Insert utensils into the Utensil Holder: Place your hand-washed utensils into the Utensil Holder provided with the sanitizer. Ensure they are securely placed inside.
3. Secure the Clear Cap: Before starting the UV sanitation cycle, make sure the Clear Cap is securely placed on top of the unit. This cap prevents UV rays from escaping.
4. Insert knives into appropriate slots: Depending on the size of your knives, insert them into the appropriate slots provided in the sanitizer. Ensure they are placed securely.
5. Plug in the unit: Insert the electrical plug of the sanitizer into a grounded wall receptacle. The On-off button on the Control Panel will start flashing.
6. Start the UV sanitation cycle: Press the On-off button on the Control Panel to stop the flashing. Then, select the UV button to start the UV sanitation cycle. This cycle runs for 5 minutes and effectively kills bacteria and germs on the knives.
7. Optional heat-dry cycle: If you wish to dry your knives after sanitizing, you can select the KD button to start the heat-dry cycle. This cycle runs for 10 minutes and helps to remove any moisture from the knives.
8. UV+heat-dry combination cycle: For a more thorough cleaning and drying process, you can select the AT button to start the UV+heat-dry combination cycle. This cycle runs for 60 minutes and provides both UV sanitation and heat drying.
Remember to follow the safety precautions mentioned in the manual. Do not place flammable materials inside the unit, keep it away from heat sources, and do not submerge it in water.
