To calibrate the APERA TN480 Portable Turbidity Meter, follow these steps:
1. Prepare for calibration by ensuring you have the correct calibration solutions. The instrument has 5 calibration points: 0 NTU, 20 NTU, 100 NTU, 400 NTU, and 800 NTU. The 0 NTU point uses AMCO 0.0 NTU calibration solution or laboratory distilled water, while the remaining 4 calibration points use AMCO polymer solutions.
2. Replace the 0.0 NTU calibration solution if needed. Open the 0.0 NTU vial cap, pour out the original solution, add 1/2 distilled water, xxxx on the cap, shake the vial to rinse it off, and pour out the water. Repeat this process 3 times. Then, pour in new AMCO 0.0 NTU calibration solution or fresh laboratory distilled water and close the vial cap.
3. Clean the vial surface by applying a small drop of silicone oil on the surface and wiping it off with a lint-free cloth. Make sure to evenly distribute the silicone oil on the surface to cover smudges and scratches. Avoid using too much silicone oil and clean off any excess residue.
4. Start the calibration process by placing the 0.0 NTU calibration vial in the sample vial holder. Close the flip cover of the sample vial holder.
5. Enter the calibration menu by pressing the calibration button. The cursor will be at 0 NTU. Press the calibration button again to start the calibration.
6. After calibration is done, press the calibration button to confirm. The instrument will return to the calibration menu. The "OK" sign indicates that 0 NTU has been calibrated and prompts you to calibrate 20 NTU.
7. Place the 20.0 NTU calibration vial in the sample vial holder and press the calibration button to start the 20 NTU calibration. After calibration is done, press the calibration button to confirm. The instrument will return to the calibration menu, indicating that 20 NTU has been calibrated.
8. If you need to calibrate 100 NTU, 400 NTU, and 800 NTU, repeat the steps by placing the corresponding calibration vials in the sample vial holder and calibrating each point. After calibration is done, press the calibration button to return to the measurement mode.
Note: It is important to follow the calibration procedure accurately and ensure the cleanliness of the vials and calibration solutions for accurate measurements.
