To install the Whirlpool WCI55US0JB 30 Inch Built-In Electric Induction Cooktop, follow these steps:
1. Gather the required tools and parts listed in the manual, including a tape measure, screwdrivers, drill, level, pliers, and brackets.
2. Check local codes and existing electrical supply to ensure compliance.
3. Ensure that the location where you plan to install the cooktop meets the specified clearances and requirements. Avoid cabinet storage above the cooktop, or use a range hood that projects horizontally a minimum of 5 inches beyond the bottom of the cabinets.
4. Verify the model/serial rating plate location on the underside of the cooktop burner box and check for an approved installation label on the cooktop base.
5. Determine the dimensions of the cooktop and the cabinet opening based on the model you have.
6. If installing a range hood or microwave hood combination above the cooktop, follow the installation instructions for dimensional clearances.
7. Prepare the location by making the necessary cutout in the countertop and cleaning it of any dust or debris.
8. Install the brackets provided with the cooktop. If installing into a marble countertop, use the Cooktop Bracket Adhesive Kit.
9. Lower the cooktop upside down onto a covered surface, using foam end posts for protection. Apply foam adhesive around the bottom of the cooktop glass if desired.
10. Lower the cooktop into the cutout, ensuring that the clips on each side align with the brackets installed in the cutout. Snap the cooktop clips onto the brackets.
11. Loosen the screws on the slider located on the underside of the cooktop and push the duct slider toward the side of the cabinet until it touches. Tighten the screws on the slider.
12. Make the electrical connection according to the type of electrical supply you have. Follow the instructions provided in the manual for either a 4-wire or 3-wire connection.
13. Check that all parts are properly installed, clean the cooktop, and dispose of any packaging materials.
14. Reconnect the power and test the cooktop. If it does not work, check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses.
