To connect the welding machine to the power supply, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the welding machine and make sure the power lead is disconnected from the mains socket.
2. Only a qualified electrician should connect the welding machine to the power supply. Installation should be done in accordance with the appropriate National Electrical Code and local regulations.
3. Check the input voltage, phase, and frequency supplied to the machine before turning it on. Verify the connection of ground wires from the machine to the input source.
4. The welding machine must be connected to a correctly installed plug-in socket with an earth pin. The input voltage is 120V 50/60Hz or 230VAC 50/60Hz. Refer to the technical specification section of the manual and the rating plate of the machine for more information on the input supply.
5. Make sure that the mains power available from the input supply is adequate for normal operation of the machine.
6. If using a power generator, ensure that the generator has an output power at least 30% larger than the input power of the welding machine. The generator frequency should be in the range of 50Hz and 60Hz, and the AC RMS voltage should be between 170V and 280V. Undervoltage and overvoltage protection will trigger if the power is outside of this range.
7. When powering the welder from a generator, always turn off the welder first before shutting down the generator to prevent damage to the welder.
