To install the Saltfire Scout Multifuel Stove, you must comply with relevant local and national Building Regulations and fire safety standards. Here are the steps to follow:
1. Ensure that the stove is unpacked carefully, and all components are accounted for.
2. Decide on the flue outlet location - either on the top or at the rear of the stove.
3. If using the rear outlet, remove the blanking plate at the rear and secure it into the top outlet instead.
4. Install the flue spigot by bolting it to the chosen flue outlet.
5. Place the stove on a level floor with adequate load-bearing capacity.
6. Make sure there is a non-combustible hearth, at least 12mm thick, underneath the stove.
7. Ensure that the stove is installed at the specified minimum distances to combustible materials, as shown in the manual.
8. If installing the stove inside a fireplace recess, provide a minimum 50mm clearance at the sides and rear of the stove for proper air circulation.
9. Install a carbon monoxide detector in the same room as the stove.
10. The stove must not be installed in a shared flue system.
11. If installing in a standard type chimney, a register plate needs to be fitted inside the chimney.
12. Use 5" diameter flue pipe, fitted inside the flue spigot, and seal it with fire cement.
13. Provide access for cleaning the flue gas connector and chimney flue to ensure unobstructed exhaust gas passageways.
14. It is recommended to have a qualified fitter, registered with HETAS or OFTEC, install the stove.
