To prepare the applique shapes for the , you will need to follow these steps:
1. Cut (9) 12½” x 12½" blocks from starched background fabric. You can use a variety of background fabrics for added visual interest.
2. Cut Pellon 101 interfacing to fit the 12½” x 12½” blocks and fuse it to the wrong side of the fabric following the manufacturer's instructions. This interfacing will provide extra support to prevent the fabric from puckering or distorting during embroidery stitching.
3. Use a water-soluble pen to mark the vertical center of each block. The horizontal line will differ for each block. If you refer to the block on the next page as a guide, the horizontal line will be 5 1/4” from the bottom of the 12½” x 12½” block.
Once you have prepared your blocks, you can proceed to the stitch-out instructions for each of the cacti. Make sure to line up the cross-hairs in step one of each hooping with the lines you have drawn in step 4 of the instructions.
Please note that the manual provides more detailed instructions and diagrams to assist you in preparing the applique shapes.
