To connect the CASINO 8 Channel Digital IN/OUT Module to your computer or microcontroller, you will need to use a 9-pole RS232 connector. The module can be connected to the computer's serial port or, if you are using a USB port, you can use a RS232 to USB converter.
Here are the steps to connect the module:
1. Connect the power supply: The operating voltage is connected to clamp X1. The module requires a supply voltage of +5V. The second voltage, +12V, is routed to the output xxxx terminals and is used to supply the output circuit. You can connect up to +24V instead of +12V if needed. Make sure to connect the ground connection (GND) of both voltages.
2. Connect the COM (USB) port: The module is connected to the computer or microcontroller via the 9-pole RS232 connector X2. If you are using a USB port, make sure to use a RS232 to USB converter. Set the COM port settings to Baud 19200, Data bits 8, Parity none, Stop bits 1, and Handshaking none.
3. Connect the inputs: The inputs can be connected to the xxxx terminals X8 – X12 or to the pin header JP1. The inputs are generally HIGH (1), and connecting them to ground makes the input LOW (0). Make sure to connect the GND signal to each input.
4. Connect the outputs: The outputs can be connected to the xxxx terminals X3 – X7 or to the pin header JP2. The outputs are open collector outputs and switch GND. The COM is connected to the power supply COM, so you can use a voltage such as +12V or +24V. Connect the desired outputs according to your application.
Please refer to the manual for more detailed information and pinouts of the connectors.
