To install the Haul Master 58205 Dual Wheel Swing-Away Trailer Jack, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that your trailer tongue is square or rectangular in profile. A cylindrical tongue will not allow the jack to mount properly and may cause the trailer to fall.
2. Measure the trailer tongue to determine the best location to mount the jack. Consider factors such as the height of the tongue and clearance for the jack to swing up and down.
3. Position the mounting plate horizontally for a 3" to 4" tall location or vertically for a 4" to 5" location. Make sure there is enough room on both sides of the mounting location for the jack to swing.
4. Check that the jack will not interfere with the vehicle or trailer when turning or passing over speed bumps or boat ramps.
5. Attach the jack as near to the coupler as possible to prevent overloading.
6. Use the provided mounting hardware, including bolts, washers, spring washers, and nuts, to attach the jack. Position the rotating plates so that the mounting bolts are as close as possible to the top and bottom edge of the trailer tongue. Insert the bolts from the rotating plate side to avoid interference when rotating the jack.
7. Test the operation of the trailer jack by rotating the crank clockwise to raise the jack and counterclockwise to lower it. Pull the swivel handle and rotate the jack so it is in line with the trailer tongue, then rotate it down so the wheels are on the ground. Make sure the jack can lock into both positions.
8. Make any necessary adjustments to the jack's location and tighten the mounting hardware firmly to 20-25 ft. lb. using a torque wrench.
