To connect devices to the INTELLINET 561747 IES-05GP 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the switch is properly powered by connecting the included power adapter to the DC/5V jack (A) and plugging it into an AC outlet. Confirm that the Power LED (B) lights up.
2. All ports on the switch support Auto-MDI/MDI-X functionality, which means you do not need crossover cables or uplink ports for connections to PCs, routers, or other switches. Simply use Cat5/5e/6/6a UTP/STP cables for optimal performance.
3. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your device (e.g., PC, router) and the other end to any available port on the switch. Repeat this step for each device you want to connect.
4. Once the devices are connected, check the status LEDs (C) on the switch. Each port should have a corresponding link or activity LED. If a status LED does not indicate a link or activity, ensure that the connected device is properly set up and operational.
Note: It is recommended to place the switch with a minimum of 25 mm (approx. 1 inch) of clearance on the top and sides for adequate ventilation. Keep it away from sources of electrical noise, such as radios or transmitters. Also, make sure the switch is within 100 meters (approx. 328 feet) of the network devices it is connected to.
