To ensure a trouble-free and effective installation of the , please follow these guidelines:
1. Conform to any relevant NZ and/or Australian Standards and local plumbing codes.
2. Place the valve at the supply source to prevent untempered hot water bursts from being delivered to the outlet. Consult Waterware Sales for advice on ring main or point of use installations.
3. The valve can be installed in a vertical or horizontal position (any orientation).
4. Keep hot and cold inlet pressure variations to a minimum, preferably balanced, for optimum temperature stability.
5. Standard valves include a check valve in the cold union for domestic HWC installations. An optional 'C' model valve includes dual hot and cold check valves for special applications.
6. Set the desired temperature after the hot water cylinder has been commissioned and heated. Once set, remove the handle and reposition it with the lock tab engaged to prevent tampering.
7. Never install a tempering valve in an open vent pipe.
8. Protect all supply lines with a y strainer or similar.
9. Avoid subjecting the valve to extreme temperatures during installation or use. Do not braze or solder near the valve.
10. Before final installation and commissioning, thoroughly flush out the system to remove all debris. Consider chemical cleaning (descaling) for older systems and the use of a water softener in known hard water areas.
11. Regular maintenance and testing are necessary. Inspect and service the valve on-site if needed. Clean all surfaces of the valve body and control assembly and lubricate o-rings with 'Greasil 4000' or a similar lubricant. Check for heat damage and deformation of o-ring profiles and the rubber sock over the control element. A maintenance kit (code: TV522SE) is available if necessary.
12. To check performance, ensure the HWC storage temperature is not less than 60ºC by testing water drained from the TPR valve. Use a thermometer to measure the temperature range while cycling the tempering valve control xxxx from minimum (30ºC) to maximum (up to 65ºC). Reset the valve to a safe temperature as required by law (Domestic 55ºC, Commercial 45ºC).
Please note that these installation guidelines are a summary. For detailed instructions and further information, refer to the WATERWARE TV252 Solar Tempering Valve Installation Guide.
