To measure the moisture level in different materials using the OMNIPRO 220674 Moisture Meter, follow these steps:
1. Remove the cap from the top side of the moisture meter. The instrument will switch on automatically.
2. Press the measuring electrodes as far as possible into the material you want to measure.
3. For wood, always measure the moisture perpendicular to the fiber structure.
4. For accurate results, it is recommended to take multiple measurements to obtain representative data.
5. Once the measurement is finished, press and hold the on/off key for about 2 seconds, and the instrument will switch itself off.
Please note that the moisture meter has two modes related to the automatic power-off function:
- Mode 1: The instrument will automatically shut down after approximately 2 minutes of inactivity.
- Mode 2: By holding the MODE key and then pressing the ON/OFF key, the instrument will enter a mode that cancels the automatic shutdown function. In this mode, the instrument will remain on until manually turned off.
Additionally, the moisture meter can also display temperature readings in both Celsius and Fahrenheit. The temperature range is 0-50°C (32-122°F).
It's important to keep in mind that certain characteristics of the wood, such as growth or type, as well as variations in wood temperature, may require adjustments to the displayed values. For more precise measurements, it is recommended to follow established drying and weighing/calcium carbide methods for inspections or reference purposes.
If the battery becomes exhausted or drops below the operating voltage, a battery warning symbol will appear on the LCD display. To change the battery, remove the battery housing, replace the batteries with four LR44 batteries, ensuring correct polarity, and then reconnect the instrument.
