To connect the EATON Ellipse ECO UPS 500 to your computer, follow these steps:
1. Connect the UPS to the AC-power system by plugging it into a wall outlet with an earth connector. Use the supplied cord for a UPS with FR/DIN sockets or use the supply cord of your computer for a UPS with IEC sockets.
2. Plug your critical equipment, such as your computer, monitor, and modem, into the battery backup outlets (outlets 9) on the UPS. These outlets provide battery backup power and surge protection. Make sure not to exceed the rated current indicated in amperes.
3. Other devices, such as a printer or scanner, can be connected to the filtered outlets (outlets 8) on the UPS. These outlets provide surge protection but do not have battery backup power in the event of a power outage.
Optional Connections:
- Internet Modem/Network Connection: If you want to protect a modem or Ethernet data line against surges, connect it via the UPS. Connect the existing device cable between the wall outlet and the UPS, and use a similar cable between the UPS and the device.
- USB Connection: The UPS device can be connected to your computer using the USB cable supplied. You can download the software from powerquality.eaton.com to manage the UPS.
