According to the owner's manual, the air filter in your Carrier PGD4 13.4 SEER2 system should be checked every 3 or 4 weeks and cleaned or replaced whenever it becomes dirty. Dirty filters can cause excessive stress on the blower motor and affect the efficiency of your unit. To clean or replace the air filter, you will need to remove the filter access panel using a 5/16-inch nut driver and then remove the filter(s) by pulling it out of the unit. If the filter(s) is dirty, clean or replace it with a new one. When installing the new filter(s), make sure to note the direction of the airflow arrows on the filter frame, which should be pointing at the indoor coil. Reinstall the filter access panel ensuring it is air and water-tight. It is important to always use the same size and type of filter that was originally supplied by the installer.
