According to the owner's manual, the air filter should be checked every 3 or 4 weeks and cleaned or replaced whenever it becomes dirty. Dirty filters can cause excessive stress on the blower motor and potentially lead to overheating and shutdown of the motor. It is important to have air filters in place before operating the unit. The location of the air filters may vary depending on the installation. They can either be in return air filter grilles mounted on the wall or ceiling of the conditioned structure, or in an accessory filter rack installed inside the unit itself. When replacing filters, always use the same size and type of filter that was originally supplied by the installer.
