Here is a step-by-step guide on how to install the MOEN UTS244201BG Brushed Gold Colinet Pressure Balanced shower system:
1. Shower Arm Installation:
- Wrap thread seal tape around the shower arm threads.
- Thread the shower arm into the connection in the wall.
2. Showerhead Installation:
- Slide the shower arm flange onto the shower arm.
- Wrap the shower arm with thread seal tape.
- Attach the showerhead to the shower arm.
3. Tub Spout Installation:
- Place the tub spout escutcheon onto the tub spout, aligning the notch as shown.
- Install the tub spout upside down onto the pipe.
- Barely tighten the tub spout set xxxx with a 5/32" hex wrench.
- Rotate the tub spout right side up and secure it by tightening the set xxxx .
4. Valve Body Preparation:
- Remove the flush plug before applying grease.
- Apply grease to the outer o-ring and inside of the valve bore using the provided grease pack.
5. Cartridge Installation:
For 4 port control valves:
- Align the tab on the installation sleeve facing up and place it in line with the valve.
- Push the adapter and pressure balance puck out of the installation sleeve into the valve until they bottom.
- Align the two posts on the cartridge to the mating feature in the puck assembly and push the cartridge into the valve until it stops.
- Tighten the cartridge nut onto the valve by turning it clockwise until hand tight, and then turn an additional ¼ turn with a wrench.
For 3 port control valves:
- Push the adapter and pressure balance puck out of the installation sleeve.
- Rotate the adapter 180 degrees and reattach it to the puck.
- Insert the parts into the installation sleeve with the tab on the adapter up, aligning with the tab on the installation sleeve.
- Follow the steps for 8A to install the assembly into the valve.
6. Setting Temperature Limit:
- Use the handle to verify that the cartridge is closed (rotate clockwise to close).
- Turn on the hot and cold water supply and check for leaks.
- Open the handle to full hot to test the hot water temperature. Close the handle if the desired water temperature has been met. The hot water temperature should not exceed 120°F.
- Rotate the lever until the water is at the maximum desired temperature, not exceeding 120°F. Seasonal maintenance of the maximum outlet temperature may be required due to changes in groundwater temperature.
7. Trim Installation:
- Remove the handle.
- Remove the adjustable temperature limit stop.
- Install the adjustable temperature limit stop so it is in contact with the bottom of the stop on the left side of the cartridge.
- Slide the sleeve onto the valve until it stops and orient the markings downward.
- Push the mounting plate onto the sleeve until it bottoms on the wall and align the holes to the threaded holes in the valve.
- Orient the snap ring to the mounting plate with the "FRONT" text facing forward and upright.
- Insert the screws through the snap ring and mounting plate and secure them to the valve until the mounting plate bottoms on the finished wall. Do not overtighten.
- Ensure the snap ring is centered on the sleeve for proper escutcheon placement. If it is off-center, loosen the screws, reposition, and secure.
8. Handle and Escutcheon Installation:
- Apply a small amount of grease to the backside of the hot and cold button.
- Push the hot and cold button into the escutcheon.
- Orient the slots in the backside of the escutcheon with the tabs on the top and bottom of the snap ring.
- Snap the escutcheon onto the snap ring, ensuring it is centered on the sleeve and the markings are level.
- For multi-piece handle designs, fully snap the adapter into the cartridge nut with the arrows pointing up.
- Place the handle onto the cartridge stem.
- Insert a 3/32" hex wrench into the set xxxx and tighten it into the handle.
9. Installation Complete:
- Your installation is now complete.
