To install the DAVIS 6466 Rain Collector on a pole, please follow these steps:
1. Choose the appropriate pole: The rain collector can be mounted on a pole with an outside diameter ranging from 1 1/4" to 1 3/4" (32 – 44mm).
2. Ensure level installation: Use the built-in bubble level on the rain collector base to ensure that it is level when mounted on the pole.
3. Attach the rain collector to the pole:
a. While holding the mounting base against the pole, place the two ends of the U-bolt around the pole and through the two holes in the base.
b. Slide the metal backing plate over the bolt ends as they stick out toward the rain collector cone.
c. Secure the backing plate with a washer, a lock washer, and a hex nut on each of the bolt ends.
d. Adjust the height of the rain collector as desired, then tighten the nuts to secure it in place.
4. Complete the installation:
a. Open the transmitter shelter on the sensor suite and remove the foam insert from the cable port in the lower right corner.
b. Feed the rain collector cable up through the opening and plug it into the receptacle in the transmitter labeled RAIN.
c. Replace the foam insert and close the shelter.
d. To ensure proper functionality, retest the rain collector after installation. Follow the instructions provided in the user manual under the section "Test the Rain Collector."
Please note that these instructions are a summary of the installation process. For more detailed information and illustrations, refer to the user manual provided with the DAVIS 6466 Rain Collector.
