To install the RFID option on the Datamax KA3-00-08400000 M-Class Mark II Industrial Printer, follow these steps:
Step 1: Checking Firmware
- Verify the firmware version in the printer by pressing the TEST Button on the Control Panel.
- Scroll to PRINT CONFIGURATION using the DOWN Button and press TEST.
- Check the Application Version printed on the Configuration Label.
- If the version is 14.09 or greater, proceed to Step 2.
- If the version is 14.08 or less, download a new version from ftp.datamax-oneil.com and follow the "Updating Firmware" instructions in the Operator's Manual to install the update.
Step 2: Preparing the Printer
- Turn OFF the Power Switch and unplug the power cord from the AC Receptacle.
- Remove the Cover Screws on the outside of the printer.
- Raise the Cover and loosen the Cover Screws on the Centerplate, then remove the Cover.
- Remove the Fascia.
Step 3: Installing the Option
- Peel the backing from the Double-Sided Tape and affix it to the recessed area of the Antenna Mount.
- If installing the HF Option, peel the backing from the RF Shield and affix it to the Antenna in the specified area.
- Cut the tape over the HF Opening or UHF Opening in the Antenna Mount according to the option type.
- Route the Antenna Cable through the opening and orient the RF Shield over the UHF if installing the HF Option.
- Affix the Antenna in the Antenna Mount and route the Antenna Cable through the Cableway in the Centerplate.
- Loosen the Guide xxxx and the Heat Sink xxxx , then slide the Notched Tabs of the Mounting Plate underneath.
- Secure the Mounting Plate to the Centerplate using the xxxx , and tighten the Guide xxxx and the Heat Sink xxxx .
- Secure the Regulator CCA to the Mounting Plate using the Screws.
- For the HF Option, place the Washer and Long Spacer onto the xxxx , then insert the Long Spacer and xxxx through the HF Module. Secure the assembled parts to the Mounting Plate.
- Affix the FCC Label to the Mounting Plate and connect the cables according to the table provided in the manual.
- For the UHF Option, secure the UHF Module to the Mounting Plate using the Standoffs and Screws.
- Route the Antenna Cable behind the Mounting Plate and connect the cables according to the table provided in the manual.
Step 4: Returning to Operation
- Dress the installed cables into the existing cable bundle.
- Recheck all connections.
- Lower and latch the Printhead Assembly.
- Replace the Cover and reinstall and tighten the Cover Screws.
- Enable the option by following the instructions in the manual.
Note: If an RFID FAULT occurs, ensure that the correct module has been selected. If the fault continues, recheck the installation.
