To install the Kingston KB4653DL Pressure Balancing Valve Tub and Shower Unit, follow these steps:
1. Before installation, flush all lines to remove any debris that may affect the proper functioning of the shower valve. Failure to do so may void the warranty.
2. Apply Teflon tape or pipe thread sealer on all threaded connections.
3. Use the following tools for installation: Screwdriver, Tubing Cutter, Teflon Tape, Adjustable Wrench, Channel-lock Pliers, and Measuring Tape.
4. Shut off the water supply to the shower valve.
5. Install the supply pipes so that the rough-in valve is placed 1-5/8" from the centerline of the inlets to the surface of the finished wall. You can use the plastic plate pre-installed on the valve as a guide.
6. Attach the valve, making sure to follow the up and down markings on the back of the valve. Connect the hot and cold water lines to their respective inlets. Do not overtighten to avoid structural damage and potential leaks.
7. Plumb the showerhead riser and finish with a 1/2" female fitting. Plumb the tub outlet to the desired location, ensuring a minimum of 8" from the bottom outlet to the tub spout elbow. Use a 1/2" male fitting thread protruding 4-1/4" from the finished wall. Do not use PEX piping between the shower valve and the tub spout, as it will restrict water flow and cause dripping from the showerhead.
8. Close both screwdriver stops located on either side of the valve. Open the water supply to the shower valve and check for leaks at all connection points. Make sure the shower valve is shut off and open both screwdriver stops.
9. Mount the enclosed gasket along the perimeter of the faceplate and attach the faceplate to the rough-in valve.
10. Attach the handle by securing it with the enclosed Phillips head xxxx . Cover the xxxx by inserting the indicator button.
11. Insert the shower arm flange onto the shower arm. Apply Teflon tape to both ends of the shower arm and thread it to the 1/2" female fitting previously installed.
12. Apply Teflon tape to the tub spout stub-out. After applying a thin bead of silicone caulking around the back of the tub spout, thread it onto the stub-out. Clean any excess caulking.
13. Fully open the valve and allow water to run for at least one minute to clear any debris in the line. Thread the showerhead onto the shower arm.
By following these steps, you should be able to successfully install the Kingston KB4653DL Pressure Balancing Valve Tub and Shower Unit.
