To properly install the FMS RMGZ400B/600B Force Measuring Roller for Tension Measurement, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that you have read and understood all the safety instructions provided in the installation manual.
2. Prepare the assembly by drilling the necessary mounting holes in the machine frame or mounting bracket.
3. If replacing the predecessor products RMGZ 400A/600A, replace the 4mm position pin with the supplied pin ø3x5 [0.118“ x 0.197“].
4. Mount the Force Measuring Roller on the machine frame or mounting bracket using the provided mounting holes. Make sure the spline groove aligns with the position pin to prevent the roller from twisting out of position.
5. In rotating applications, such as stranding machines, align the red point of the Force Measuring Roller parallel to the rotation axis and in the direction of the positive force component. This compensates for centrifugal forces.
6. Follow the electrical wiring diagram and connect the Force Measuring Roller to the measuring amplifier using a shielded twisted-pair cable. The shield should be connected only to the measuring amplifier to avoid ground loops and electrical interferences.
7. Test the alignment of the red point and the sensor adjustment after offset compensation and calibration. If the reading of an unloaded Force Measuring Roller stays at zero regardless of the load cell position, the red point is correctly aligned.
