To connect your devices to the Sony STR-DH590 MULTI CHANNEL AV RECEIVER, follow these steps:
1. Make sure the receiver is turned off and unplugged from the power outlet.
2. Identify the type of audio/video connections available on your devices (e.g., TV, Blu-ray player, gaming console, etc.). The most common connections are HDMI, optical audio, and analog audio.
3. Locate the corresponding input ports on the back of the receiver. The HDMI inputs are labeled HDMI IN, the optical audio input is labeled OPTICAL IN, and the analog audio inputs are labeled AUDIO IN.
4. Connect one end of an HDMI cable to the HDMI output port on your device (e.g., Blu-ray player) and the other end to one of the HDMI input ports on the receiver. Repeat this step for each HDMI device you want to connect.
5. If your device only has an optical audio output, connect one end of an optical audio cable to the optical output port on your device and the other end to the OPTICAL IN port on the receiver.
6. For devices with analog audio outputs, use RCA cables to connect the left and right audio outputs of your device to the corresponding AUDIO IN ports on the receiver. The left channel is usually denoted by a white connector, and the right channel is denoted by a red connector.
7. Once all the connections are made, plug the receiver back into the power outlet and turn it on.
8. Use the remote control or the front panel of the receiver to select the appropriate input source for your connected device. The display on the receiver should indicate the selected input source.
