To change the polarity for welding with the Handy Mig, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the machine and disconnect the power lead from the mains socket.
2. Remove the nozzle and contact tip from the gun.
3. Refer to the diagram in the manual to identify the correct wiring configuration for the desired polarity (Negative or Positive).
4. For Negative Polarity (DC-): Connect the work cable to the Positive (+) output terminal and the gun cable to the Negative (-) output terminal. Make sure both thumbscrews are tight.
5. For Positive Polarity (DC+): Connect the gun cable to the Positive (+) output terminal and the work cable to the Negative (-) output terminal. Again, ensure both thumbscrews are tight.
6. Replace the contact tip and cut the wire so that 10 to 15 mm protrudes from the end of the tip.
7. Turn on the machine and it is now ready to weld with the new polarity setting.
