To install the Robart 689 1/5 Scale Piper Cub Landing Gear, follow these steps:
1. Check your plans or 3-view drawings to determine the proper position of the front gear strut from the firewall. Use that dimension to locate the front of the gear. If you are replacing existing gear, you can use the existing gear to make that measurement.
2. Turn your fuselage over and measure and mark the centerline of the fuselage and the location of the front clear strut.
3. Position and tape the provided template on the centerline and mark the hole locations as shown on the template.
4. If your fuselage does not have a plywood floor, you will need to add a 1/4" aircraft plywood mount inside the fuselage. Make the necessary changes to the fuselage floor and drill (8) 9/64" diameter holes at the locations marked on the outside of the fuselage bottom.
5. Mount the gear brackets to the bottom of your plane using the tee nuts and screws provided. Note that you may want to paint and cover your gear prior to assembly.
6. Assemble your gear as shown in the two views provided in the manual.
7. Attach the O-ring bungee cords, two on each strut. Bungee covers can be made from fabric, balsa wood, fiberglass, or rubber. Note that bungee covers are not included with the product.
