Before using the Invacare patient sling, it is important to position it correctly for safe and effective use. Here are the steps to position the sling:
1. For the standing sling, make sure the bottom edge of the sling is positioned on the lower back of the patient and the patient's arms are outside the sling.
2. For the transport or transfer sling, make sure the bottom edge of the sling is at the base of the spine and the patient's arms are outside the sling.
3. For the full body, comfort, and heavy-duty one-piece style slings, position the sling with the upper edge of the back section slightly above the armpit level and the lower edge of the seat section a few inches above the back of the patient's knees.
4. For the divided leg, universal high, easy-fit, toileting, dress toileting high, and cradle one-piece style slings, position the sling with the back of the sling parallel to the patient's upper arms and between the top of the patient's head and the base of the spine.
5. For the standing, stand assist, transport, and transfer one-piece style slings, follow the specific instructions provided in the manual for each type of sling.
It is important to follow these positioning guidelines to ensure the comfort and safety of the patient during transfer or lifting procedures. For more detailed instructions and illustrations, please refer to the "Using the Sling" section in the Invacare Patient Slings Instruction Manual.
