To install the HighPoint SSD7104F 4x M.2 Port to PCIe 3.0x16 NVMe RAID Controller, please follow the steps below:
Step 1: On the rear of the SSD7104F, remove the six screws that secure the unit's heat sink to the PCB. After removing the screws, carefully remove the heat sink from the SSD7104F.
Step 2: After removing the casing, carefully turn it over to view the thermal pad. Remove the blue film from the pad before reinstalling the panel. This film protects the pad from damage and foreign objects prior to installation, but it can hinder the thermal pad from conducting heat away from the NVMe SSD if not removed.
Step 3: Use the provided screws to install the NVMe SSDs. The SSD7104F can support any M.2 form factor (2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110).
Step 4: Remove the screws on the right side of the SSD7104F.
Step 5: Gently insert the SSD into the slot. Make sure all disks are clean before inserting them to avoid unexpected situations.
Step 6: Refasten the xxxx to secure the SSD. Ensure the SSDs are carefully and securely installed into each M.2 port. Loose connections can cause various issues with performance and reliability, and may result in data loss.
Step 7: Replace the heat sink after installing all SSDs.
Step 8: On the rear of the SSD7104F, refasten the six screws that were removed in step 1. Make sure the aluminum cover is properly aligned with the controller board (PCB) and makes full contact with the thermal pad before refastening it. Improper installation of the cover may result in insufficient cooling of the NVMe SSDs and controller componentry, potentially leading to damage, performance loss, instability, and data loss.
Note: Connect the NVMe SSDs before using the product to reduce the occurrence of unnecessary errors. Also, install the driver in the system first and then install the board.
