To connect the Applied Motion Products MDX-L IP65 Integrated Servo Motor to your PC and power supply, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that you have a 24-60VDC power supply.
2. Make sure you have a PC running Microsoft Windows XP, or Windows 7/8/10.
3. Download the MDX Servo Suite software from www.applied-motion.com/products/software and install it on your PC.
4. Connect the drive to the PC using the appropriate programming cable. For RS-485 and CANopen models, you may need the 3004-288-xx programming cable and an Applied Motion 8500-003 USB-serial adapter with xxxx terminal connector.
5. Use the appropriate power cable (3004-331-XX for right angle, 3004-332-XX for straight) to connect the main power supply's "+" to the power cable's "BK1" wire, and the power supply's "-" to the power cable's "BK2" wire. Be careful not to reverse the connection as it may void the warranty.
6. If you are using a regulated power supply, consider using the Applied Motion RC880 Regeneration Clamp to address any regeneration issues. Refer to the Applied Motion website or the MDX Hardware Manual for more information.
7. Open the MDX Servo Suite software on your PC and select the communication port for the motor.
8. Apply power to the MDX servo motor.
9. The software should automatically identify the motor model number upon power up and display the 'Upload' panel. Click "yes" to upload the drive configuration.
10. Begin configuring the motor according to your application requirements.
11. When you are ready to test your configuration, click "Download All to Drive" in the software.
For communication wiring, please refer to the manual for specific details and pin configurations. It is important to note that cables for CANopen, RS-232, and RS-485 communication are not included and must be purchased separately.
