To replace the Communicator Classic with the new Communicator, follow these steps:

1. Physical Differences:
- Note that the power and network connectors are not in the same place, and the configuration port is different.
- The new Communicator is slightly taller than the Communicator Classic.

2. Configuration Conversion:
- The configuration conversion is intended to convert custom protocols and get the new Communicator up and running quickly.
- Start by locating the configuration file used with the Communicator Classic that needs to be converted.
- In the built-in web interface of the new Communicator, go to the Files & Firmware page and click the Import Anybus Communicator Classic configuration button.
- In the Import configuration window, select the configuration file (.cfg) and click Import.
- The configuration will be imported into the web interface of the new Communicator. A pop-up window may appear with messages that require adjustments or corrections, such as network settings or timeouts.

3. Network Configuration File Update:
- It is mandatory to update the network configuration file (EDS, GSDML, GSD, etc.) in the PLC software when replacing the Communicator Classic.
- To retrieve the network configuration file from the new Communicator's web interface, select the appropriate network (e.g., EtherNet/IP) and go to the Files & Firmware page.
- Click on the EDS File to download it to your computer.
- Import the downloaded network configuration file into your PLC software. The process may vary depending on the software used (e.g., Studio 5000 or TIA Portal).
- In Studio 5000, open the Hardware Installation Tool wizard in Offline mode and follow the instructions to install the EDS file.
- In TIA Portal, go to the Options menu and select Manage general station description files (GSD). Import the downloaded GSDML file into the configuration tool.
