To connect the wiring harness kit to your vehicle's power source and ground, follow these steps:
1. Connect the RED wire from the wiring harness to a switched positive (+) power source. This can be done by tapping into the vehicle's marker lights or auxiliary wire from the 7-way connector.
2. Connect the BLACK wire from the wiring harness to the chassis ground (-) of your vehicle. Ensure a solid connection to a metal part of the vehicle's frame.
3. Use the included extension cable if needed to reach the proper power source.
4. It is crucial to make all wiring connections watertight to prevent corrosion and loss of power. Use a wire crimp tool to crimp each end of the wire into the connector.
5. Heat the connector with a heat gun or heat torch until it shrinks completely around each wire end. Be careful not to burn the wire jacket.
6. After all connections have been made, heat shrink the entire group of splices so that it seals on the outer jacket of both cables.
Please note that the required supply voltage for the wiring harness kit must be between 9 and 32 volts DC. Do not connect the gauge directly to a battery or any constant power source. It should be connected to a switched source so that it can be disconnected from power when not in use.
