According to the Toyota Wear and Tear Card, acceptable damage to the exterior body panels includes scratches, scrapes, dings, dents, gouges, or cracks that are within the card (see card sample) and where rust and/or bare metal is NOT exposed. This type of damage will not incur any charges.
However, if the damage exceeds the limits specified on the card or if rust and/or bare bumper metal is exposed, there will be a charge of $200 for each panel. If the damage is beyond the limits specified on the card, the charge increases to $400 per panel.
It is important to note that any previous repaint or repair that does not meet the body shop industry standards will also incur charges. If the damage is within the card, the charge is $200 per panel, and if it exceeds the card, the charge is $400 per panel.
Additionally, it is required to remove all decals and lettering prior to returning the vehicle. If any decal or lettering is not removed or is removed with residual damage present, there will be a charge of $100 per body or glass panel.
It is recommended to refer to the Toyota Lease Wear & Tear Guide or consult with your Toyota dealership for further clarification and to ensure compliance with the guidelines.
