To install the ZCG ZM09-4GX 4G LTE + 4G-3G Mobile Phone Collinear antenna, follow these steps:
1. Select the mounting position: Mount the antenna in a high place, away from other antennas and metallic objects to avoid interference. Ensure the antenna is in a vertical position.
2. Mounting options: You can choose between the MM1 plastic fold down mount or MM2 316 grade stainless steel fold down base. Both options have a 1”-14 UNS thread that mates with the thread in the chrome mount ferrule of your antenna. Use the base as a template to mark the position of the 4 holes required to secure the deck mount base.
3. Routing the cable: Route the RG58 low loss stranded cable carefully to your phone, ensuring it is not stretched excessively and there are no sharp kinks. Use stainless steel cable ties if needed, but avoid tightening them too much to prevent damage to the cable.
4. Completing the installation: Insert the FME female connector into your mobile phone. Leave some slack in the cable at the point where it exits the aluminum ferrule to allow the antenna to be folded down flat without tension on the cable.
5. Maintenance: Conduct a routine annual mechanical inspection of the antenna, feeder cable, and connections to ensure proper functioning.
Please note that the 5-meter cable can be cut shorter if desired, but a new connector will need to be fitted using proper tools. If the FME female connector does not suit your mobile phone, you can fit any other connector suitable for RG58 cable or use a suitable adapter or patch lead.
For the marine environment, it is important to seal all connections with at least two layers of self-amalgamating tape to prevent moisture ingress. PVC or electrical tape is not sufficient.
