To install the MaCURCO GBC Gas Boiler Controller, follow these steps:
1. Choose a suitable location for mounting the controller. Ensure there is enough space for access to the conduit entry holes on the top and bottom of the unit.
2. Use the provided mounting screws to install the controller on a wall or surface. Make sure to leave enough space around the unit for visual and audible notification and easy access to the reset button.
3. If additional entry holes are needed, use caution when drilling new holes in the enclosure to prevent damage to internal components.
4. Connect the wires to the terminals of the controller. Strip each wire back 1/4 inch (6.5 mm) and press down the white button of the connector. Fully insert the bare wire into the wire cavity of the connector and release the white button. Ensure that the wire cannot be easily pulled out of the connector.
5. Connect the power supply to the appropriate terminals on the controller. The GBC offers two power input versions: GBC-X-24 (24 VAC or VDC) and GBC-X-120 (120 VAC). Match the polarity for power connection, and use the recommended wire gauge for power runs.
6. Connect the gas detectors to the sensor connections on the controller. The GBC can support up to four Macurco 6-Series gas detectors in any combination. The detectors must be wired in series for the normally closed circuit to operate correctly.
7. If using a horn/strobe, connect it to the horn/strobe output on the controller. The output provides 24 VDC power to the horn/strobe.
8. If needed, install Macurco Expansion Relay boards in the four expansion slots on the controller. Each board contains two SPDT relays that can be wired to be normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC) depending on the application.
9. Once the installation is complete, power up the controller. The Power LED will light up green to indicate that the unit is operational.
