To connect the Graviton LL-Series 1200MHz E-O Converter to an instrument, follow these steps:
1. First, confirm that the power switch on the E/O converter is off.
2. Connect the Power Cable Assembly supplied with the converter to the power input connector on the rear panel of the converter. If your instrument has a probe power connector, connect the other side of the Power Cable Assembly to the instrument. If your instrument does not have a probe power connector, refer to page 7 of the user manual for instructions on connecting an external power supply.
3. Connect the fiber connector to the optical signal output connector on the front panel of the converter. Ensure that the fiber cable is properly connected at both ends.
4. Turn on the power switch. Do not turn on the power switch without the fiber cable connected properly at both ends.
5. Adjust the modulation level and frequency as needed. The appropriate peak-to-peak modulation level is approximately 1/3 of the conversion sensitivity mentioned in the data sheet. Applying a higher level may result in a lower optical output signal than the threshold level of the laser device, causing clipping of the signal. Applying a level higher than twice the conversion sensitivity may cause permanent damage.
Please refer to the user manual for more detailed instructions and safety precautions.
