To determine the appropriate wire gauge for your Sonance PS-S43T Professional Series Surface Mount speakers, you need to consider whether you are using a 70V/100V system or an 8-ohm system.
For a 70V/100V system, the most common wire used is 18 gauge, 2 conductor, stranded, and jacketed without a shield. The wire length using 18 gauge is appropriate up to 700 feet with a 100 watt load. If you double the load, you will reduce the footage by half, and if you halve the load, you may double the acceptable wire length. Stepping up to 16 gauge wire extends the allowable run length by approximately 35%.
For an 8-ohm system, the total wire resistance should be less than 10% of the speaker impedance. Since the Sonance PS-S43T speakers have a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, the total wire resistance should be no more than 0.8 ohms. Using a wire gauge that meets this requirement will ensure optimal sound quality and prevent power loss.
Please refer to the wire gauge chart provided in the installation guide (Figure 1) to determine the appropriate wire gauge based on the length of your wire run and the power load of your speakers.
It is always recommended to consult with a professional installer or an electrician to ensure proper wire gauge selection and installation for your specific setup.
