To use the Jim-Gem Cruz-All Angle Gauge for point sample cruising, follow these steps:
1. Hold the button at the end of the chain in your teeth.
2. Extend the Cruz-All angle gauge away from your eye until the chain is taut.
3. Keep your eye directly over the sampling point.
4. Look through the Cruz-All at every tree around you.
5. Count the trees which appear as wide or wider (at breast height) than the opening for the basal area factor (BAF) you are using.
For example, if you are using a 5 BAF sample, count only the trees that are as wide or wider than the opening for a 5 BAF. Do not count those trees in a 10, 20, or 40 BAF sample. Similarly, if you are using a 40 BAF sample, count the trees that are as wide or wider than the opening for a 40 BAF.
