To install betta Roller Blinds and Sunscreen Blinds, follow these steps:
1. Gather the necessary tools: spirit level, steel measuring tape, carpenter's level, power or battery drill & bits, flat blade and Phillips head screwdrivers.
2. Ensure you have received all the required components for each blind, including installation brackets, chain stopper, child safety tensioner (2 for dual blinds), and installation gloves.
3. Wear clean, soft cotton gloves or the rubber gloves provided to avoid marking the fabrics during installation.
4. Choose the correct screws for mounting based on the desired application (e.g., Gyprock, timber, concrete, brick, steel, or aluminium). Note that screws are not supplied by Betta Blinds.
5. Make sure the mounting area (wall or architrave) can support the weight of the blind and its operation. The correct anchorage method is crucial for a successful installation.
6. If installing on brick or rendered surfaces, drill at least 25mm away from the edge to prevent chipping or breaking.
7. For standard chain operation installation:
- Check the marked width and drop sizes against your original order.
- Lay out the blinds at their location and remove the protective packaging.
- Install the control side (spade end) bracket and idle end (pin end) bracket on the desired side of the window area.
- The brackets can be mounted face fit or reveal fit, and slight adjustments can be made if necessary.
- Insert the spring-loaded idle pin end into the mounting hole and the chain control end into the aligned holes in the bracket.
- Ensure the chain winder's chainguard cover faces upwards and the centre locator on the chain control end locks into the bracket.
8. For dual and slimline dual roller blinds:
- Install the brackets as described above.
- Use plastic holders for each set of slimline dual brackets.
- The dual bracket is fitted to the structure similarly to the single bracket.
9. For linked blinds with chain drive:
- Install the brackets as described above.
- Install the chain drive blind first, followed by the other blind, ensuring the male drive fits inside the intermediate female drive.
- When taking the blinds down, start with the pin end first.
10. After installation, raise and lower the blind twice to settle it and check for any fabric rubbing against obstacles.
11. Install the child safety device by ensuring the chain is tangle-free and mounting it in a straight line down from the control mechanism. Use screws to fix each cleat or tensioning device out of reach of children.
12. Clean and maintain the blinds by regularly removing surface dust with a soft cloth, feather duster, or soft brush. Use mild detergent in lukewarm water for cleaning, avoiding severe rubbing. Avoid using white spirits, methylated spirits, or dry cleaning solvent.
13. Betta Blinds provide a one-year guarantee on fabric quality and a five-year guarantee on blind components. The warranty does not cover defects or damage caused by accidents, alterations, misuse, abuse, wear and tear, or failure to comply with cleaning and maintenance instructions.
14. Follow the safety regulations to prevent strangulation hazards for children. Install the corded window covering in a way that a loose cord cannot form a loop longer than 220mm at a height of less than 1,600mm above floor level. Attach a label with the installer's contact details and ensure warning labels remain attached to the cord.
