To properly assemble and install the RALPH LAUREN RL2733WVGCG Carrington Medium Sconce, please follow the instructions provided in the manual. Here is a step-by-step guide:
1. Assemble safety cables:
- Join the fixture safety cables with the safety cable from the wall.
- Wrap both safety cables around the cable lock nut.
- Secure by tightening both hex nuts until tight.
2. Carefully remove all parts from the box and place them on a clean, soft surface.
3. Remove the back plate (B) from the base of the light fixture (E) by removing the base screws (F) in a counter-clockwise direction.
4. Insert the light bulbs into the sockets.
5. Position the back plate (B) horizontally on the wall outlet box and mark the center points for mounting slots with a pencil on the wall. Then, remove the back plate (B).
6. Drill small holes on each marked point location on the wall, ensuring that each hole is large enough to accommodate the plastic anchor (A). Push the plastic anchors (A) into the holes in the wall.
7. Affix the back plate (B) to the wall outlet box, aligning the holes, and secure it by inserting the mounting screws (D) into the holes of the outlet box and screws (C) into the plastic anchors (A) in the wall.
8. Gently pull the wires from the wall outlet and allow them to hang. Thread the wires through the center hole in the back plate (B).
9. Attach the fixture steel safety cable to a structural member in the wall.
10. Attach the ground (green) wire from the fixture to the ground wire from the wall outlet box (usually green or copper in color). Fasten them together with a plastic wire connector and tightly wrap the wire connector with electrical tape to seal the end.
IMPORTANT: Ensure that the outlet box in your home is properly grounded.
11. Connect the neutral (white) fixture wire coming from the fixture base to the neutral (usually white) outlet wire. Fasten both wires together with a plastic wire connector and tightly wrap the wire connector with electrical tape.
12. Repeat the procedure with the hot (black) wires, ensuring no wire strands are left outside the connectors.
IMPORTANT: Do not reverse the hot and neutral connections, as it compromises safety.
13. Attach the fixture base (E) to the back plate (B) and secure it by inserting the base screws (F).
14. If mounting the fixture outdoors and/or in a wet location:
a. Ensure the mounting surface is clean, dry, flat, and 1/4" larger than the canopy/fixture base on all sides. Correct any gaps exceeding 3/16" between the mounting surface and fixture base.
b. Use silicone caulking compound (e.g., GE-108) to caulk completely around where the back of the canopy/fixture base meets the wall surface to prevent water from seeping into the outlet box.
IMPORTANT: To avoid water entering the fixture base from the side, the fixture must be mounted above 1.2m (4 ft) from the ground.
Care Instructions: Clean the fixture only with a soft dry cloth or feather duster. Do not use abrasive or chemical agents.
